The concept for this tasting is to simplify the signature features of the Rhone Valley’s climate, soils, grape varieties, and its confusion of regulations. There will be a couple nice Rhone white wines to start us off before hitting the serious stuff. We will feature France’s Big Red Mammas. These wines elicit joyful tears from their lyrical fruit and flowers and, at the same time, break down doors with their beastly smoke and fire. Selected from top producers and the amazing 2015 and 2016 vintages, long before retaliatory price increases; this exemplary collection cannot be duplicated or repeated.
This is a high-end exploration of fine, food-worthy wines, and so, we have planned with Hilton’s Chef several small plate accompaniments to make it even more enjoyable for your palate. Space is limited by both Hilton room and wine availability, so sign up early to be able to tell the wonderful story later to those who procrastinate and miss Friday, June 26th, 7 p.m., Hilton Harrisburg.
Winemaker and long-time friend, Eric Miller, recently spent three weeks in the Rhone Valley – thus explaining the severe Rhone wine shortage! When we proposed a tasting, he said, “I love you but the only reason I’d drive two hours late at night to present these wines is for the rare opportunity to taste them all at once.” Point made, Eric. Let’s join him to raise great glasses of Rhone’s wines!
